Aloha Tofu Blog

Fans from Afar: Part I

We never dreamed that we’d be on an amazing show like Dirty Jobs, and we’re extremely thankful that it happened.  Since the show aired, we’ve gotten positive feedback from everyone here on O’ahu via email, Twitter, and Facebook.  It’s amazing to know how many people in the islands support us!

Another unexpected yet pleasant outcome of the show was that we gained fans from other states in America!  People loved our episode so much that they wanted to have a significant item to express it.  Unfortunately, we don’t have any non tofu items for sale, but we still wanted to convey our appreciation for their interest in our company.  So we decided to send some Aloha Tofu caps out to a selected few on one condition…take a photo of themselves (wearing the cap) in front of a landmark of their state.

Our first new fan couple for this project is John and Patricia of New Jersey.  We didn’t get a photo of the Jersey Shore, but we did get some  shots of their vacation in Atlantic City.  We wish we were there!

John was the first person to contact us about the show.  He was enthusiastic about the episode, and even wanted to try our firm tofu!  But as you all know, our tofu is made and stays fresh in Hawai’i only.  We hope John and Patricia come to visit one day though!

We at Aloha Tofu want to thank everyone for being so supportive of us.  We’ve been in business for almost 60 years and we’ll never forget that it’s because of the continued patronage of our ohana in Hawai’i.

Aloha! I am originally from Hawaii but now living in South Carolina on the border near Charlotte, NC. I saw the Dirty Jobs show and enjoyed the segment immensely especially the “lost digit” conversation. I wanted to add that I knew Kurt Uyehara (I believe his parent ran Aloha Tofu for awhile) when I went to UHM many years ago and had lost touch with him. I hope he is doing okay and wonder often how he is. He was my surrogate big brother. I love your tofu and products and wish I could get some here in the southeast, which coincidently grows a lot of soybeans! Love your website, FB page and blog!
